According to the materials I have, Day Ta Day, who surprisingly debuted in 1996 on the label launched by Salt-N-Pepa... Looking at the credits, Be Be Winans, a favorite, Lil G of Silk, and Darryl Simmons of the Babyface family were involved in the production, so although there's no causal relationship, they were a vocal group with the expected ability. They didn't have a hit that made them a "one-hit wonder," nor did they have any particularly distinctive characteristics, but they were a quietly memorable group of five that somehow stayed in my heart for a long time. I suddenly remembered that I often listened to "Runnin' Back To You," which was a particular favorite, during that musically rich era.
