(Biography) Azan Tsuji was born in Kyoto in 1938. He graduated from the Faculty of Letters, Osaka City University. His grandfather was Kōun, a master craftsman of Kutani ware. He studied Japanese painting under Michio Ikeda, and received instruction in pottery from his father, Kanzai (a Nitten artist).
