This is a piece of indigo-dyed cotton boro. It is believed to be from the Meiji to Taisho eras. It is thought to have been used for futon covers, etc. This indigo dye was collected in Kaga. Touching it gives a wonderfully gentle feel of hand-spun yarn, and it has a well-worn texture. There are considerable patches, tears, frays, damage, and stains, but the clear indigo color makes it a refreshing piece.
