Shinbori Guitar was a project of Hiroki Shinbori, founder of the Shinbori Guitar Music Academy, featuring ensemble guitars like alto guitars, prime guitars, and bass guitars. These were commissioned from workshops of famous luthiers. Notable luthiers included Yukinobu Chai and Sumio Kurosawa of Tokyo. As in this listing, Shinbori guitars made by Kazuyuki Terahira of Yamaki Guitar in Shinshu, known for their acoustic guitars, are rare and valuable. The Shinbori Prime S guitar is the same size as a standard normal guitar, but the guitars made by Mr. Terahira have slightly smaller soundholes. The guitar's top is made of spruce with tight grain, the sides and back are made of beautiful dark brown mahogany, the neck is made of hard cedar, the fingerboard is made of dark brown rosewood, and the bridge appears to be made of quarter-sawn rosewood. As the name "handcraft" suggests, the craftsmanship is meticulous, and the neck is comfortable to hold, making it a very easy guitar to play. The unique acoustic effect of the spruce and mahogany produces a gentle and warm tone. Made in 1983, the guitar is over 42 years old, so there are some small scratches and dents, but the previous owner repaired the finish themselves, and it is in relatively good condition.
