◇ About the Maker ◇ We sell handmade shinobue flutes crafted by a father and daughter team in Shimane Prefecture. The father has been a shinobue instructor for about 25 years and is also a flute maker. We harvest female bamboo (shinotake) growing in the Shizumagawa River (formerly known as the Ginzangawa River), dry it for over three years, and then use it to make shinobue and kagura flutes. ◇ Shipping Method ◇ We will ship via Yu-Pack (Yu-Yu Mercari Bin) with eco-friendly packaging. We will ship within 1-2 days of purchase. ◇ First ◇ Shinobue flutes tuned to the Do-Re-Mi scale have seven holes. The first hole (the hole furthest from the mouthpiece) is only opened for pitch adjustment and is not intended to be used during performance. (This is common for Do-Re-Mi scale flutes.) Occasionally, some regions use the first hole on Do-Re-Mi scale flutes, but on shinobue flutes with tunings from 1 to 8, the first hole is out of reach. ※ See the reference image at the end. 【Specifications】 Included: Instruction manual (fingering chart) ◯ Length: Approximately 43-45cm, Thickness: Approximately 19-21mm (near the mouthpiece) ◯ Material: Shinotake (female bamboo) (dried for over 3 years and then heat-treated) ◯ Inside holes: Synthetic azuki-colored lacquer (cashew) ◯ Outside: Synthetic transparent lacquer (cashew) ◯ Binding thread: Ivory color 16g of lead is inserted inside the head of the tube for stability adjustment. Wood filler is used for the mouthpiece reflector to prevent melting in the summer heat. The flute is tuned so that you can produce the lower register (1st octave), the higher register (2nd octave), and the highest register (3rd octave) with varying breath strength. ※ Because natural shinotake bamboo is used, the tone and playing feel vary from flute to flute. If you are already accustomed to flutes made by other makers, you may need some time to get used to producing the highest register.
