Thank you for viewing! These are 100% linen steteco (men's underpants). Handmade. I purchased the fabric and sewed these myself. Originally, this linen fabric was used for the garments worn under the kasaya (monk's robes) by monks and priests at temples and shrines. It has a moderate stiffness and the characteristic crispness of linen. As you can see in the photos, it's thin enough that you can slightly see through it, like the edge of a tatami mat. I made these for myself and wear them under kimono or pants. As expected of linen! I used to wear cotton chijimi (crepe) type ones, but these are incomparably more comfortable. The fabric seems to be of very high quality, not clinging to the skin while still absorbing moisture, so I'm always feeling dry. For me, with my tendency to sweat a lot, they've become very comfortable. The waist is elastic and can expand up to 104 cm. 80 cm of elastic is inserted. It's temporarily secured, so please adjust it to your preferred length. These are knee-length and have a relaxed width. I prefer the knee length because if the length goes below the knee, it can stick to sweaty skin when bending the knees, which I don't like. Also, when sitting seiza (kneeling), the hem of longer ones can get caught in the back of the knees where sweat tends to accumulate, which is uncomfortable. The rise is made shallow to prevent sticking between the thighs. If you are looking for low-rise ones, I recommend the steteco ② item. I have a lot of the fabric I purchased, so I'm currently making the next steteco. If you're interested, please check back later.
