As it is a dried wood, the odor is not very noticeable at present. The odor will be released when it gets wet or heated. Although it has been super-finished, the grain has come out the wrong way and the finish is not perfect. Sanding would likely crush the grain and blur the contrast, so sanding was not done. Therefore, the finish is imperfect. This is not sold as a cutting board. Due to the solid wood, kanasuji (grain), cracks, chips, pinholes, and discoloration of the sapwood may be seen. Please consider purchasing only if you can accept these imperfections. This was made for fun and will not be re-sold.
