I've wanted a Chéret "chérette" for a long time, having seen them many times during my London days. I bought this one from a New York art dealer about 30 years ago and, worried about carrying it, had it shipped later. I really wanted one with a lot of red, like the Moulin Rouge posters, but it was too expensive, so I passed. I chose this one, with its beautiful red, blue, and yellow, featuring a woman holding up a liquor bottle. It has given me a lot of enjoyment. It's like saying, "Come on, let's drink!" It is backed with cloth. There is some age-related deterioration. Please refrain from purchasing if you are at all concerned or if you are a perfectionist. I would be happy if someone who knows and understands this type of item, and who appreciates it, would use it. I have the original receipt, but I cannot provide it. The price is based on the current exchange rate. The dollar was stronger back then. I have not had it appraised after purchase. The frame is in poor condition and is used as packaging to protect the artwork. I'm sorry, but price negotiations are not possible. The price will remain as is for the time being.
