Kyoto Kiyomizu Mame Ningyo (Bean Dolls) "Goshiki Daruma" By Masa Sugitani These are Kiyomizu dolls, sold in shops along the various slopes leading to Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto. They seem to have been sold in bamboo baskets. This is a set of five. Each doll has a carefully crafted expression, and the quality is impressive for bean dolls. They would look very cute displayed on a desk or shelf. How about them as good luck charms? --- They still look good at a glance, but as they are vintage pieces, they have some scratches and stains.
