This is an Edo period E-Karatsu tea bowl. It is an elegant bowl with a soft, off-white base and an arabesque pattern painted in iron pigment. Fine cracks (kannyu) run throughout, giving it a well-aged appearance. It was stored with a shifuku (protective silk bag) and a wooden tomobako (storage box). Size: Diameter approx. 11.5cm x Height approx. 9cm 【Condition】 ・There are no noticeable chips or cracks on the rim. ・There are pinholes, color unevenness, and iron spots from firing on the inside. ・There are kiln marks, scratches, and signs of use on the exposed clay around the foot. ・The tomobako has scratches, small marks, and stains due to aging.
