The advantage is that it increases the probability of hooking the squid before it escapes, even with squid that haven't had their heads removed, making it easier for beginners to fish (provided the squid is in a vertical embrace). When it reaches the squid, the structure is such that the second and third support points remain on the line, and only the main body of the first support point swings up (jumps forward) like a swing. Unlike conventional flip-ups, there is no loss of lifting the needle, and the forward speed, the weight of the yari, and the water pressure when reeling in all contribute to the flipping-up force.
