The story becomes complicated as all three men (who later turn out to be friends) fall in love with Martha. The flashbacks inserted here and there are complex and stimulate the imagination. It's a short, heartwarming comedy. Because Frank (Tom Hollander) and Daniel (Rufus Sewell) are not characters that you would necessarily sympathize with, even if Fiennes wins out, you don't feel sorry for the two who are rejected. Potter's performance is worthy of being called the post-Meg Ryan. Ray Winstone gives a great performance as a reliable neighbor. You're sure to feel warm at the end of the story.
