It features 48 fantastic soul tracks from Freda Payne, the Chairmen of the Board, the 8th Day, the Glass House, Laura Lee, the Honey Cone, 100 Proof (Aged in Soul), and the Flaming Ember. All the Invictus/Hot Wax hits are here – "Band of Gold," "Give Me Just a Little More Time," "You've Got to Crawl (Before You Walk)," "Want Ad," "Westbound #9" – but what's notable is the depth of the labels. Tracks not included on the original LPs are also present, each a hit in its own right or a potential hit. While the Invictus Soul box set delves deeper with its bonus discs, this double-disc set is arguably superior in its conciseness, offering a complete package of dynamite early 70s soul.
