This is a hand-woven Gabbeh rug purchased at Matsuzakaya. I bought it for 120,000 yen at the time. Size: 90cm x 57cm The design is said to be inspired by the sea, forests, and fields. The vibrant colors are very soothing to look at. The colors change depending on the viewing angle. Some Gabbeh rugs have a belt on the back, while others do not, and this one has one. The belt is attached to mitigate edge damage, and is often found on fine silk Persian carpets. Some Gabbeh rugs are finished in workshops that originally processed and maintained Persian carpets, and therefore have belts like silk carpets, but this one is hand-woven and one-of-a-kind.
