The main body has age-related deterioration, scratches, and scuffs characteristic of leather, but the leather itself is still stiff, and I believe you can nurture it with your own hands. I removed the rivets on the back side immediately after purchase. There are marks inside the main body where pocket stickers were peeled off. (Images 5 & 6) The brass plate was attached to the main body and used for a few days. The life buoy has been opened but is unused.
