This is a set of three rice bowls from the Keishū kiln, made in the 1950s (Showa era) and featuring Koishiwara ware. Each bowl is approximately 11.8cm in diameter and 6.0cm in height. The Masu-gata (square) pattern, the predominantly gray color scheme, and the sharp, inverted triangular shape of the high foot all evoke a sense of the old days, making these pieces a perfect example of "Showa retro" that brings to mind the "high economic growth period" and its modern sensibilities. The Masu-gata pattern and the lattice pattern on the foot are all hand-painted, and each one is slightly different. Although these are believed to be unused items that have been stored for a long time, unfortunately, one bowl has a crack of about 2cm that appears to have occurred during storage (it goes through the front and back, so it's a crack, not a scratch, but it shouldn't cause any problems in practical use). Also, although all three are works of the Keishū kiln, the shape of the kiln mark is different on two bowls and one bowl. Please check the images for details. Furthermore, because they were stored stacked, all three bowls have slight scratches overall. However, there are no noticeable chips or scratches, and considering the age of these pieces, they are in relatively good condition and are considered beautiful items.
