This is a large, deep Imari-yaki (Imari ware) somenishiki kinrande bowl made from the late Edo period to the Meiji era. It is a magnificent size and has been carefully stored, so it is in very good condition with no cracks or chips. It was used as a decorative bowl and has few scratches. (Meaning there are some minor scuffs, but no signs of use.) The bowl features a large, soaring phoenix at the center, surrounded by numerous flowers, dragons, and cranes, all auspicious motifs, densely painted. The inside of the bowl is decorated with the character for "longevity" (寿). The fact that the same patterns are painted on both the inside and outside is also remarkable. It is a dazzling large bowl that you will never tire of, as the scenery seems to change every time you look at it. ●Size (approx.)
