This is a Buddha statue I purchased at an antique market. It has a gentle, rounded face. It feels like it's smiling kindly. I have cherished it, but I'm thinking of passing it on to the next person. It's from the late Edo period, and I was told it came from a ruined temple in Fukushima Prefecture (formerly the Aizu domain). The halo has a large chip. The pedestal and the statue are separated.
