The bansuri is a flute-type instrument found all over the world. Even Indians themselves sometimes call it a flute instead of a bansuri, so there's no problem thinking of it as a flute. Bansuris are made of bamboo and come in various lengths. Both long and short ones are called bansuris. It's a C flute. I bought it new for about 15,000 yen, opened it, and tried placing my fingers on it, but the length wasn't right, so I've kept it in storage. It's very large, so it's very difficult to play, but the depth of the sound when played is indescribable.
