Classic design wooden folding chess set. The board also serves as a case to store the pieces. A friend from abroad brought this set back from their home country; it's over 40 years old and likely made in the USA or Brazil. There's a stamp with a logo and manufacturer's name inside the case, but it's too faded to read. The case is made of wood and assembled with dovetail joints. The chessboard surface appears to be inlaid by hand. The chess pieces are also wooden, with crimson felt on their undersides. Condition: There are scratches and scuffs across the entire board surface (photos 7 and 8), and traces of peeled paper labels inside the case (photo 5). Regarding the pieces, the white king has green felt on its underside, with some peeling at the edges (photo 11), and there are marks as if the ends of the cross on the crown have been shaved off (photo 12). (The black king appears not to have had a cross-topped crown originally.) Other than that, there is no noticeable damage or dirt, and it's in quite good condition for a piece over 40 years old. I would like to sell this to someone who likes vintage and collectibles, and who appreciates old items.
