It's designed to fit on narrow shelves, and the pleasant flatness when held is appealing. Judging from the way the collar and chain are drawn (a little clumsy), it may be the work of an illustrator rather than someone whose main job is painting pottery. The face is unusually rendered. There are some cracks, bubbles, and partial coloring, but no chips or cracks, and it's in good vintage condition. Basically, it's an old item with a simple construction.
