There are some scratches from use, but no dents, and I think it's in good condition. This mouthpiece was developed in collaboration with the world-renowned euphonium player, Steven Mead. Compared to the base model, the SM4X, it has a rounded rim and a slightly smaller cup shape. This increases flexibility, and the smaller shape also increases breath speed, making it easier to approach the higher register. This mouthpiece particularly satisfies the needs of players who have challenges in the mid to high register. The Steven Mead Ultra series is the newest evolution in euphonium mouthpieces. The outer shape has been changed to add more mass which increases projection. An evolved cup shape combines the best elements of a funnel shape and bowl shape to produce a classic euphonium/baritone sound with better support and response in the upper registers.
