【Product Description】 Kazuo Yairi Y505A Alto Guitar, 1981, K. Yairi This is an alto guitar from the Kazuo Yairi brand of K. Yairi. Supervised by Saburo Nogami. Based on the stamp on the label inside, it appears to be from 1981. Saburo Nogami apprenticed under the master craftsman Kenji Kono in 1959, and after honing his skills at the same workshop until the early 1970s, he became independent. After that, in addition to regular classical models, he was a master craftsman who also energetically produced ancient instruments such as lutes and vihuelas, and ensemble guitars such as alto guitars. He also built a long-standing cooperative relationship with Kazuo Yairi (K. Yairi) until the 1990s, and it seems he played a significant role in improving the classical guitar models of the same brand. I have also owned guitars made by Saburo Nogami himself and supervised models, and I have always had a good impression of them. Regarding this guitar, the top has a nice, tight grain. It is a solid top. The sides and back are rosewood with a beautiful wood grain. The sound is also profound, truly a Yairi + Nogami creation. Originally an alto guitar, because the string length is 530mm, I have used it as a Terz guitar (tuning the guitar three frets higher) by using low-tension strings, or tried using it as a regular tuning guitar with hard-tension strings. Currently, it has normal tension strings and is tuned slightly lower than standard. I loved it, but I am selling it to organize my guitars. The strings were replaced about a week before the listing date (March 1st).
