Not only are there cracks in the outer coating of the guide thread, but there are also vertical cracks inside the blank body joint. (Rather than complete cracks, there's a white pattern that looks like a build-up of distortion. I haven't had it professionally inspected, so it's not confirmed. Even if it doesn't affect actual fishing, it's definitely in a state that could be called a crack if you look closely.) It's like the sign of a split mouth on a Japanese rod. The thread itself is firmly wrapped, so it's possible to fish with it, and I don't think it will break or crack immediately, but it might be damaged if you cast with excessive twisting in strong winds or if you force a fight with a large fish. The rest of the rod is in good condition, which is a shame, but I'm listing it as almost junk.
