I made a long skirt by unraveling a Meisen kimono. The original kimono was in a clean, spotless condition (Photos 14-17). Since Meisen can fade when washed with water, I only disinfected it with a high-temperature iron. There are seams where the fabric was joined to adjust the length (center of Photo 13). Please check it. Therefore, I am selling it at a lower price than skirt 181. The contrast of red and black is a beautiful pattern. The fabric has a moderate luster, and the firmness characteristic of Meisen is also lovely. I think it's a skirt with a color and pattern that goes well with any top. I put three long tucks in the front and back to reduce the volume. Although there is plenty of gathering, thanks to the tucks, the waist and hips look neat. Silk fabric is expensive, so it doesn't seem like I can easily buy fabric and make it. Unraveling old clothes is difficult, but it's wonderful to be able to enjoy the feel of real silk in everyday life. It's also a good point that you can enjoy the unique colors and combinations of Japan. I enjoy sewing specializing in straight lines. I use old kimonos, obi, and furoshiki such as Tsumugi, Meisen, and Komon for remaking. Please consider this if you understand thread remnants, small holes, stains from used items, distortions, double stitching, etc. ✳︎Try to avoid washing as much as possible, and after wearing, hang it on a hanger and let it breathe. ✳︎Items other than the skirt are for photography purposes. ✳︎There is no lining.
