[New, Unused] Reproduction Satsuma Kiriko, Made by Tsuneo Yoshimizu, Copper Red & Indigo Overlay Glass Cut Glass Old Fashioned Glasses, A Pair, Hexagonal Cage Pattern, Hemp Leaf Small Pattern, Fish Roe Pattern Colors: Copper Red & Indigo Glass/Cup/Wine Glass: Old Fashioned Glasses Cut Glass/Pottery Brand: Tsuneo Yoshimizu Reproduction Satsuma Kiriko Size: Height 85mm, Diameter 76mm [Tsuneo Yoshimizu] Born in Tokushima Prefecture in 1936, Tsuneo Yoshimizu graduated from Tokyo Metropolitan Shinjuku High School. He completed his doctoral program at Waseda University. In 1968, he was invited by the Czech government to study at Charles University in Prague, specializing in glass art history and the history of East-West art exchange. He conducted research on glass art throughout Europe. In 1981, he established the Tokyo Glass Art Institute. He has lectured at his alma mater, Waseda University, as well as Tama Art University and Japan Women's University, and has been active in various fields, including writing and serving as an advisor to the Hakone Venetian Glass Museum. This item was inherited from his father and has been stored at home. It is being sold to organize the collection. This is an old item, and it is extremely rare to find it in this condition even after several decades since its production. The colored glass layers were thick at the time, and it is a very rare and heavy piece. Please note that individual differences such as bubbles in the glass of the old fashioned glass itself, slight color unevenness, and thickness, which are unique to handmade items, are considered part of the charm (although no color unevenness is observed, there are some scratches on the bottom of the copper red and indigo glasses that may have occurred during storage, as well as air bubbles and inclusions from the time of manufacture. Since these are old items, the air bubbles and inclusions are perhaps a testament to the technology of the time.
