Japan is often called a spy paradise, so surely some of you are engaged in espionage. This side-viewfinder, called WINTU, allows you to extend only the camera from a wall, enabling the photographer to remain hidden and take pictures from the side – a truly ingenious device. When attached to the cold shoe of a Barnack Leica, it functions as an optical viewfinder, like a periscope, pointing to the left. Furthermore, by extending the arm, you can view the rangefinder from the side. It's also effective in low-light conditions and with shallow depth of field at wide apertures. With this, you can safely carry out reconnaissance missions. Just kidding, of course. But it's an item that allows for "inconspicuously" taking photos, such as stealth photography like a paparazzi, hidden photography, reconnaissance missions (used by the military), and even street snaps capturing natural expressions (though this is not permissible in modern times). It's exciting to think that this might have actually been used back then, along with the small shutter sound of the Barnack Leica. It can also be used for low-angle and bird's-eye view photography, much like the vari-angle or tilt monitors found on modern mirrorless cameras. However, since it's for Barnack Leicas, it's likely more of a collector's item in modern times. Although there is some minor soiling, the exterior is in very beautiful condition, and it would be a perfect item for those who enjoy dressing up their cameras and having a drink, as shown in the example photos.
