Itchikusai Tanabe created the delicate "openwork" technique, which is like lace weaving, and was a master craftsman who brought a new breeze to the bamboo craft world. He inherited the family business and the name from his father, the second generation Chikunsai Tanabe, and continued his creative activities after using the name Itchikusai.
