Wild birds will use old nesting materials as they are or renovate them if they like them. It seems they feel more secure with old nesting materials. There is no need for humans to clean the nest; they will remove anything they find bothersome themselves and adjust the height to make raising chicks easier. Be aware that if humans peek while they are incubating, they may abandon their young. It is best to peek after the chicks have hatched. There are many natural predators. Ideally, install it facing north, in a location with many trees and branches, at a height of 3 meters or more.
