He had a carefree youth, but aspired to be a knight and went to the battlefield. There, he fell ill and met Jesus Christ in a dream, converted, and resolved to follow Jesus. He gave his possessions to the poor, wore simple clothes, and made a pilgrimage throughout Rome. When Francis returned to Assisi and was praying in a ruined church, he heard the voice of Jesus telling him to rebuild the church, and he immediately began to rebuild it. Francis's father, who disliked the family's wealth being spent on the church, took legal action to have Francis renounce his inheritance and disowned him. However, Francis followed the words of Jesus even more, gathered comrades, and continued a life of poverty and love, inspiring many people and improving the chaotic church of the time. Later, he went to Rome and, with the permission of Pope Innocent III, founded the "Franciscan Order" in 1209. His story is told in the book "The Little Flowers." He was also the first person to decorate a stable on Christmas night and spread the custom.
