Fine Art, Antiques, and Collectibles: Crafts - Iron-painted Mashiko Ware, Plain White Glaze Ichiro Kimura (June 29, 1915 - August 21, 1978) was a Japanese ceramic artist of Mashiko ware from Mashiko, Haga District, Tochigi Prefecture. Born into a wealthy farming family in Mashiko, he was influenced by the "Mingei (Folk Craft) Movement" led by Shoji Hamada, who moved to Mashiko. He aspired to become a ceramic artist and, by assisting Kanjiro Kawai in his pottery, he continued his creative activities while mastering various pottery techniques.
