This item has been in my grandfather's collection for a long time. It's a ceramic jar, likely Yachimun or Ryukyu Koten-yaki. The glossy black base features beautiful glazes of blue-green, vermilion, and brown, and the contrast between the scraped-off patterns and the exposed clay is also lovely. It has an ethnic feel, and the shape is like a cute vase you might find in Scandinavian vintage pieces.
