This is a homemade two-hook rig for surf fishing. Suitable for various species like flatfish, greenling, stone flounder, Japanese sillago, eelpout, conger eel, rockfish, seabass, and scorpionfish, as well as for bottom fishing for flatfish and drift fishing. As shown in the image, the leader is 4-lb fluorocarbon, the hooks are size 14 Maruseigo hooks, and the snap swivels are rust-resistant Yozuri brand. Hard plastic tubing is used for the snoods, and the main line is 7-lb nylon. It's a simple surf fishing rig with a sand swivel at the top. Instead of using flatfish hooks, which can lead to fish coming off, I use Maruseigo hooks. Flatfish generally swallow the bait, and for rockfish like greenling and rockfish, flatfish hooks can tear the mouth, increasing the chance of the hook coming out during the hookset or reeling in. Therefore, I use Maruseigo hooks. The key feature is that, based on experience, I believe that anything other than the bait is a foreign object to the fish, and it's better not to add unnecessary decorations for better bites. I intentionally don't use beads, as I believe it allows the bait to be presented in a more natural way. Also, to increase the strength of the connection between the leader and the hook, I use a palomar knot. The total length of the rig is about 110cm, and it's made slightly longer to prioritize bites.
