WINDS OF GOD Masayuki Imai (died May 28, 2015) wrote the script, directed, and starred in the play, which was made into a film in 1995, starring Imai himself. What is the fate of a comedy duo who time-travel to the Pacific War era? The play "THE WINDS OF GOD," which Imai made his life's work, was restaged many times. Seven years after the first performance, Yoko Narahashi, who later became a producer of the film "Emperor" and worked worldwide, took on directing for the first time, and this film was her first directorial work. The film is based on the Kamikaze pilots of the Pacific War, and it shows Imai's sympathy for some of the characters who decide to become kamikaze pilots. Despite the provocative subject matter, it is full of prayers for peace and can be called a highly universal and moving story. The passionate performances of the young co-stars, including Shota Yamaguchi and Takanori Kikuchi, are also worth watching.
