This is a pair of soba choko (small bowls for soba noodles) from Sota Kiln, Arita-yaki, featuring a Nishiki Akajussou (red ten-grass pattern). Sota Kiln specializes in sometsuke (blue and white porcelain) that arranges traditional Arita-yaki patterns with a modern touch. It is a new and upcoming kiln that opened in 1997. The warm and inviting patterns are hand-painted one by one by skilled artisans. The comfortable feel in your hand comes from the slight imperfections and the marks of the potter's wheel, which are created by hand.
