Elegant Modern Oshima Tsumugi in a Beautiful Violet Hue This is a high-quality and refined Oshima Tsumugi, made using the incredibly rare technique of tebata (hand-woven, completely handcrafted from thread twisting to dyeing and weaving). The deeply warm violet silk fabric features kasuri patterns, known as "mosquito kasuri," which are incredibly fine star-shaped patterns. This exemplifies the beauty of dyeing befitting traditional crafts. While it appears solid-colored from a distance, a closer look reveals a myriad of surprisingly delicate kasuri patterns. You'll be captivated by the lustrous, smooth sheen of the silk, the high level of craftsmanship with approximately 25 mosquito kasuri patterns woven per square centimeter, and the warmth of hand-weaving. Although it is from the Showa era, there is no sign of thread deterioration. After completely unpicking the kimono and returning it to its bolt form, it was washed and "arai-hari" (a process of re-stretching and re-shaping the fabric) was performed. Afterwards, it was tailored by "Ichii-sha," one of the top studios in the Japanese kimono tailoring world. All the lining has been replaced with new material, and the under-kimono skirt has been newly made to match the violet color of the outer fabric.
