It eliminates the need for extra fabric layers, reducing weight and pack size. The OMM Women's Core Parka, a new concept in active insulation, is made entirely from PRIMALOFT® ACTIVE ultra-lightweight insulated fabric. Made from synthetic plumes woven into a knitted mesh, it offers the warmth of fleece at less than half the weight. When combined with a shell, the Core Parka is a highly effective insulator, but also highly breathable thanks to its near-complete breathability. This allows you to keep the Core layer on even after warming up, making it easy to regulate your body temperature. From valley to summit, this parka performs wet or dry, and its moisture-wicking properties ensure you won't stay wet for long. PRIMALOFT® ACTIVE insulated fabric weaves PRIMALOFT® fibers over a mesh to create an ultra-voluminous, open structure. The fabric insulates by trapping pockets of air that the wearer's heat cannot pass through. The Core construction excels at creating these pockets. However, the openness also allows breezes to disrupt these air pockets and remove the insulation effect. The Core takes advantage of this, placing a lightweight shell over it to give the weight layer the best possible warmth.
