This is a Negoro-nuri sake cup (with original box, cotton sarasa wrapping, and antique cloth) believed to be from the mid-Edo period. The unique vermillion color of Negoro-nuri, aged over time, harmonizes well with the slightly visible black lacquer undercoat from years of use. Inside the foot, there is a lacquer inscription of a family crest, likely belonging to the workshop or the person who commissioned it, featuring a stylized drum.
