This is an Imari-style sometsuke mukouzuke (small serving dish). The slightly bluish vessel has a jagged, wheel-like edge, and the body is elaborately decorated with takokusa (octopus arabesque) and line drawings. The shape of the vessel and the way the arabesque is drawn are unlike anything I've seen before, making it a rare and exceptional piece. One piece has a kiln flaw, and another has a stone chip.
