This is a piece of indigo-dyed cotton boro. The era is estimated to be from the Meiji to the Taisho period. It is believed to have been used for futon covers, etc. This indigo dye was collected in Kaga. Touching it gives a wonderfully gentle feel of hand-spun yarn, and it has a well-worn texture. There are considerable patches, tears, frays, damage, and stains, but the clear indigo color makes it a refreshing piece. Also, please refrain from purchasing if you are concerned about cotton dust, the unique smell of old cloth, or the smell of mothballs.
