This item was purchased by my grandmother when she was practicing calligraphy (likely over 40 years ago) and is unused. I contacted Ikkyuen regarding its intended use, and they informed me that "Yamayo Chingan is particularly suited for kaisho (block script) and gyosho (semi-cursive script), and is recommended for use on hanshi (half-size paper) with 4-6 characters or for longer works on joban (large format paper). It is also widely used for creating medium-sized works with a pre-used tip."
