This is a conch shell made from a Japanese turban shell (Akane-nishi-gai). It can be blown, and it makes a sound, but it's a small one. It doesn't produce a sound as loud as a conch shell from the Warring States period. It's a portable size for mountain climbing, and could be used as a bear deterrent whistle! Regarding the production, it has been thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, and processed, but it is a natural product. Please refrain from purchasing if you are sensitive or seek perfection.
