I've been playing the hichiriki, a Japanese wind instrument used in gagaku (traditional Japanese court music), for over a decade, so I bought this book out of interest. After reading it, I couldn't help but be impressed. It was so interesting that I read it all in one night. This book contains, though not entirely, the oral traditions passed down in the author's family, who are musicians. I believe it's a very valuable resource.
