I bought this at a select shop in Kobe a few years ago. The handle and the end of the shaft have been wood-burned, which I think is rare nowadays. What is wood-burning? It's a process of burning the surface of the wood to enhance its natural texture and feel while increasing its durability. Effects: Burning creates a unique texture and a sense of luxury, enhancing its visual appeal. It also hardens the wood's surface, making it more resistant to stains and water penetration.
