Shin-gama (Round-Shaped Teapot) Shin-gama from the Ashiya school were used on Kiriai-furo (a type of brazier), but with the development of Wabi-cha (a style of tea ceremony emphasizing simplicity), large Shin-gama were not used on furo and came to be used as ro-gama (teapots for the sunken hearth). Furthermore, in the time of Rikyu, when the dimensions of the ro (sunken hearth) became smaller, the wings were removed to fit the ro, and they were used as Hane-ochi-gama (wing-dropped teapots).
