Noriyuki Ushijima was born in Kumamoto Prefecture and aspired to be a painter from his youth. He went to Tokyo at the age of 19 and spent a period of his youth in Sendagaya, Shibuya-ku. He was selected for the Teiten (Imperial Art Exhibition) in the year he graduated from the Tokyo University of Fine Arts. He received the Tokusen (Special Selection) award for "Enchu" (Midday Blaze) at the 2nd Nitten (Japan Fine Arts Exhibition) after the war. In 1949, he worked with Hisashi Suda and others to nurture young artists at the Tokyo University of the Arts as a place for free creation and research. He became a member of the Japan Art Academy in 1981, a Person of Cultural Merit in 1982, and was awarded the Order of Culture in 1983. ◎ There is yellowing due to aging. ◎ Please consider this item as a used item that has been stored at home for many years.
