This came from a barn of a 170-year-old traditional Japanese house. It's a "seoi-go" (carrying frame) used in Minamiboso from the Meiji era to the early Showa era. It's an old, handmade carrying frame that was found with farming tools like horse-drawn plows, large carts, and other implements used before the introduction of machinery like tractors. This is the basic design for modern framed backpacks. It's very well-balanced. Although it's very old, the woven straw rope and the red parts of the shoulder straps are stylish.
