This is a kimono by the katazome (stencil dyeing) artist Kazuko Shibuya. Kazuko Shibuya studied wax resist dyeing under Tomonosuke Oai and stencil dyeing under Tojiro Inagaki during her university years. She subsequently received various awards and actively engaged in creative activities, with her works being exhibited and introduced in museums both in Japan and abroad. Kazuko Shibuya creates her works using the single-stencil technique, using shibugami (persimmon tannin-treated paper) to make the stencils and applying paste resist dyeing. The kimono features a design with patterned motifs created using katazome. The artist's signature is placed on the okumi (front panel). This is a Takashimaya-ordered piece. We hope you will enjoy it with your own Nagoya obi, Kyo-fukuro obi, or hanhaba obi (half-width obi) (^^) ● Colors: Shibugami-iro (persimmon paper color) brown with Suoko-iro (sappanwood color) motifs ● Size: Hiro-eri (wide collar), awase (lined) Length: 162cm Yuki (sleeve to sleeve length): 63cm Sleeve length: 53cm Maehaba (front width): 23cm Atoshiro (back width): 27.5cm Yuki seam allowance: approx. 4cm on one side Ura-age (hem allowance): approx. 4cm Miyagoro seam allowance: approx. 8cm *Please note that there may be slight variations due to amateur measurements. ● Material: Both the kimono fabric, lining, and hakkei (lining of the skirt) are silk. ● Condition: The stitching thread is attached to the collar, sleeves, okumi, and hem. It has been lightly tried on, but it is clean and in very good condition. Although it is a beautiful item, please understand that it is a used item before purchasing. ● Other notes: The colors may appear different depending on your monitor, so please be aware if you are particular about subtle colors. 【 #KazukoShibuya 】 Born in Kyoto in 1932 Graduated from the Department of Dyeing and Weaving, Kyoto City University of Arts in 1957 Awarded the Nitten Tokusen Hokuto Prize in 1964 Exhibited in the New Generation of Dyeing and Weaving Exhibition, Kyoto National Museum of Modern Art in 1971 Exhibited in the Fiber as Art Exhibition, Manila Metropolitan Museum in 1980 Exhibited in the '90 Art Selection Exhibition, Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art (1992, 1993, 1994) Exhibited in the Dyeing and Seiryu Exhibition (14 consecutive exhibitions) in 1991 Exhibited in the Art of Kyoto: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow, Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art in 1992 Awarded the Kyoto Prefecture Akepo Prize in 1993 Exhibited in the Contemporary Dyeing Exhibition, National Museum of Art, Osaka in 1994 Exhibited in the Japanese Dyeing and Weaving/Textile Exhibition, Meguro Museum of Art, Tokyo in 1996 Awarded the Kyoto Art and Culture Award in 1998 Awarded the Kyoto City Arts Merit Award in 2003 We also have many other items for sale, including kimonos, obi, Japanese accessories, antiques, and works by brand artists♪ Please take a look here #cafe kimono
