This is a Scalawag vintage wool shirt. It's a 40s kover zip. I've seen plain wool and rayon shirts a few times, but I think the white x black block check is rare. It has a diagonal zip and is fastened at the bottom with two gripper snap buttons. As shown in the photos, there are five or six moth holes and one actual hole [photos included]. The size is listed as 15 x 15 1/2, which would normally be around a M, but it's a boxy, larger cut. You can consider it a Japanese L size.
