Fernandes Co., Ltd. was founded in 1969 in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Initially, the company was named Saito Gakki and manufactured and wholesaled musical instruments, mainly classical guitars. In the Fernandes era, Mr. Harutaka Nagasue, a guitar maker, became the production manager and launched the Fernandes GC series, a Grand Concert series (GC series) with the same name as Yamaha, which grew into a major product. The GC series had grades ranging from GC-10 to GC-150. Initially, it started with the original early rectangular horizontal label products made by Mr. Nagasue, and from around 1975, outsourced manufacturing to Takamine, Suzuki Violin, and others, which were the later diamond-shaped label products. The guitar for sale was made in 1970 and is an early rectangular horizontal label GC-25. The Fernandes GC-25, sold about 50 years ago, uses carefully selected materials. The top is a solid cedar top with tight grain, the sides and back are beautiful quarter-sawn rosewood, the neck is hard mahogany, the fingerboard is jet-black rosewood, and the bridge appears to be quarter-sawn rosewood. Over the years, the acoustic effect of the cedar top and rosewood produces a pleasant and warm sound. It is also light and easy to use, making it a convenient guitar to carry around. However, more than half a century has passed, and there are scratches, dents, and surface cracks due to aging, and the previous owner had used it as is after paint repairs.
